Shetland Wool Sheep Necklace – Royal Blue
Shetland Sheep Crewneck
A pullover with an unmistakable character, where the tradition of British knitwear meets the ironic and refined spirit of Lady De Paz.
Made from 100% Scottish Shetland wool, with Real Intarsia craftsmanship, the yarn is selected and imported by De Paz and then processed in Italy in our workshops. This crewneck in the royal blue variation reinterprets a famous motif through a shade deeply linked to British style: a flock of small white sheep interrupted, on the front, by a single black sheep.
The depth of the blue makes the design more discreet and sophisticated, while maintaining the ironic character that distinguishes the garment. A balance between personality, tradition, and material quality, in the true spirit of Lady De Paz.
A motif that made history
The inspiration comes from one of the most recognizable pullovers worn by Lady Diana Spencer.
In 1981, shortly before her marriage to Prince Charles, Diana appeared at a polo match wearing a striking red pullover populated by white sheep and a single black sheep.
Two years later, she publicly wore the same motif again. Over time, that single black sheep surrounded by the flock became a suggestive metaphor for Diana's individuality and her ability to stand out from the conventions of the royal family.
A meaning never declared by the Princess at the time of its first appearance, but which became indissolubly linked to one of her most iconic looks.
A return from the De Paz archive
For us, this design also tells a part of the history of De Paz.
We had already chosen and proposed it many years ago, when a previous interpretation achieved extraordinary success and quickly sold out.
Today, Lady De Paz has decided to bring it back into its collection, re-proposing it through that combination of British textile culture and Italian manufacturing which has always represented a fundamental part of our identity.
The 100% Shetland wool yarn comes from Scotland and is selected and imported directly by De Paz. The garment is then manufactured in Italy by a specialized workshop, thus combining the authentic character of Scottish textile tradition with Italian manufacturing expertise.
A new edition produced in limited quantities, dedicated to those who love garments that tell a story and stand out without compromising on quality.
Shetland wool and Real Intarsia processing
Shetland wool owes its name to the remote Shetland Islands, an archipelago located in the far north of Scotland and home to an indigenous breed of sheep that has adapted over the centuries to an environment characterized by wind, humidity, and harsh climate.
From this tradition comes a wool particularly appreciated in British knitwear for its balance of warmth, lightness, and resistance.
Its surface retains a naturally lively texture and a slightly more rustic feel compared to extremely fine and uniform wools. It is precisely this characteristic that gives it that authentic look and personality that have made Shetland a protagonist of the great tradition of Scottish knitwear.
In this pullover, the yarn is worked with the Real Intarsia technique, a particular knitting construction that allows figurative motifs to be created by separately using different colors within the same panel. The sheep are therefore not applied or printed on the surface: the design is born directly from the knitting process, becoming an integral part of the garment's structure.
A technique particularly suited to such a distinctive motif, capable of combining design precision, knitwear tradition, and manufacturing quality.
