Shetland Crew Neck Cardigan

The Shetland sheep has adapted to this environment by producing an extraordinarily versatile fleece—fine, soft fibers on the inside, and longer, protective ones on the outside. The result is a relatively fine wool (approximately 23 microns in diameter) that is warm for its weight, elastic, and durable. The natural waviness of the fiber—the so-called crimp—gives the knit body, elasticity, and that particular ability to trap air and heat.

The hand: dry, rustic, alive

This is precisely where this cardigan distinguishes itself from a worsted merino or cashmere. Shetland has a dry and slightly rustic hand, with a surface that is not perfectly smooth. To the touch, it conveys structure more than "buttery" softness: it is not a wool designed to provide a silky sensation, but rather to feel authentic, substantial, and resilient. The slightly irregular surface of the knit contributes to that mélange and textural look typical of natural yarns, where the thread does not appear completely uniform.
