Aran Honeycomb - White
Aran Honeycomb
Product description
A crewneck sweater built around texture and the richness of its craftsmanship. Made from 100% Aran wool from the Aran Islands, it features a surface entirely worked with traditional raised patterns, including the characteristic Honeycomb stitch, which creates depth, volume, and an instantly recognizable three-dimensional design.
The crewneck is compact and well-defined, while the cuffs and hem are ribbed to maintain the garment’s shape. The body and sleeves alternate structured patterns, cables, and openwork sections, creating a rich yet balanced knit, where the decoration stems directly from the construction of the yarn.
In the white version, the shade highlights the design of the knit and the natural interplay of light and shadow created by the relief patterns. The color acquires depth precisely thanks to the Honeycomb stitch and the cable patterns, which visually alter its intensity depending on the light.
It all starts in the Aran Islands
The Aran Islands are located off the west coast of Ireland, exposed to the Atlantic and a harsh climate of wind, rain, and salt air. It is in this territory that one of the most recognizable traditions of Irish knitwear was developed.
Aran wool is historically associated with warm, substantial, and durable garments, designed to face difficult weather conditions. Its structure is particularly well-suited to three-dimensional work, as it allows relief patterns to maintain their shape, definition, and depth.
The Honeycomb stitch
The Honeycomb knit is one of the most characteristic patterns of the Aran tradition. It is achieved through a cable-knit construction that creates a succession of regular, three-dimensional shapes, resembling the cells of a beehive.
The result is a rich, structured surface in which the yarn appears to overlap and cross, creating small, continuous relief motifs. In this model, the Honeycomb stitch alternates with other traditional patterns and openwork sections, making the design complex yet harmonious.
The decoration is not applied to the garment: it originates directly from the construction of the knit and is therefore an integral part of its structure.
The character of Aran wool
100% Aran wool from the Aran Islands has a full, warm, and naturally substantial feel. It is a wool particularly suited for structured knitting, as it supports the relief of the stitch and allows the Honeycomb design to remain sharp and legible.
The yarn gives the pullover a strong tactile presence while maintaining elasticity and comfort. It is precisely the encounter between the wool and the craftsmanship that defines the character of the garment.
An authentic Aran Made in Ireland
This pullover is made in Ireland, in the region from which the Aran tradition originates.
Material, technique, and manufacturing therefore belong to the same textile heritage: Aran wool from the Aran Islands, Honeycomb pattern, and Irish production come together in an authentic, textural, and timeless garment.
