Cropped Aran

Product description

An Aran crewneck with a shorter, contemporary proportion, built around the richness of the craftsmanship and the character of the wool. Made from 100% Aran wool, it features a highly three-dimensional surface where large cables, plaits, and honeycomb patterns alternate to create depth and movement.

The cropped line shortens the traditional proportion of the Aran sweater, while retaining all of its texture and tactile presence. The crewneck is compact and ribbed, as are the hem and wide cuffs. On the front, the denser central pattern is framed by large vertical cables that continue along the sleeves, giving the garment a precise and instantly recognizable structure.

In the green version, the shade highlights the relief of the knit and the natural play of light and shadow created by the weaves. The color appears deeper in the compact parts and brighter on the reliefs, making the complexity of the craftsmanship emerge with even greater clarity.

It all begins on the Aran Islands

The Aran Islands are located off the west coast of Ireland, exposed to the Atlantic and deeply tied to the tradition of wool knitting.

It is here that one of the most recognizable languages of Irish knitwear was developed: surfaces rich in cables, plaits, and three-dimensional patterns, built directly through the movement of the stitches.

Aran wool is particularly suited to this type of craftsmanship thanks to its full, consistent structure, capable of supporting marked reliefs and complex designs while maintaining warmth and elasticity.

The Honeycomb knit

The honeycomb knit is one of the most characteristic patterns of the Aran tradition. The structure is born from the crossing of the stitches, which creates a regular succession of three-dimensional elements similar to the cells of a beehive.

In the central panel of the pullover, the honeycomb pattern forms a denser and more articulated surface, while the large side cables introduce a more decisive vertical movement.

The alternation between honeycomb, plaits, and cables makes the knit rich yet balanced: the decoration is not applied to the garment, but is born directly from its construction.

The character of Aran wool

100% Aran wool has a full, warm, and naturally consistent hand. It is a fiber particularly suited to structured designs because it supports the relief of the cables and keeps the honeycomb pattern well-defined.

The yarn gives the pullover body and presence, enhancing the three-dimensionality of the knit and making every detail clearly legible.

The result is a tactile and structured garment, in which the wool and the knitting technique become the true decorative elements.

A Cropped Aran Made in Ireland

The Cropped Aran is made in Ireland, in the country from which this knitting tradition originates.

The honeycomb knit, large cables, and Aran wool construction reinterpret the classic language of the Aran sweater through a shorter, contemporary silhouette.
