Aran Cropped - Light Blue
Cropped Aran
Product description
An Aran crewneck with a shorter, more contemporary proportion, built around the richness of the craftsmanship and the character of the wool. Made from 100% Aran wool, it features a highly three-dimensional surface in which large cables, plaits, and Honeycomb motifs alternate to create depth and movement.
The cropped line shortens the traditional proportion of the Aran sweater while maintaining all of its consistency and tactile presence. The crewneck is compact and ribbed, as are the hem and wide cuffs. On the front, the denser central motif is framed by large vertical cables that continue onto the sleeves, giving the garment a precise and immediately recognizable structure.
In the light blue variant, the hue highlights the relief of the knit and the natural interplay of light and shadow created by the weaves. The color appears deeper in the compact areas and brighter on the reliefs, making the complexity of the workmanship emerge even more clearly.
Everything begins in the Aran Islands
The Aran Islands are located off the west coast of Ireland, exposed to the Atlantic and deeply tied to the tradition of wool knitting.
It is here that one of the most recognizable languages of Irish knitwear was developed: surfaces rich in cables, plaits, and three-dimensional motifs, built directly through the movement of the stitches.
Aran wool is particularly suitable for this type of craftsmanship thanks to its full and consistent structure, capable of supporting marked reliefs and complex designs while maintaining warmth and elasticity.
Honeycomb knitting
Honeycomb knitting is one of the most characteristic motifs of the Aran tradition. The structure arises from the crossing of the stitches, which creates a regular succession of three-dimensional elements similar to the cells of a beehive.
In the central panel of the pullover, the Honeycomb motif forms a denser and more articulated surface, while the large side cables introduce a more decisive vertical movement.
The alternation between Honeycomb, plaits, and cables makes the knit rich yet balanced: the decoration is not applied to the garment, but arises directly from its construction.
The character of Aran wool
100% Aran wool has a full, warm, and naturally consistent hand-feel. It is a fiber particularly suitable for structured work because it supports the relief of the cables and keeps the Honeycomb motif well-defined.
The yarn gives the pullover body and presence, enhancing the three-dimensionality of the knit and making every stitch clearly legible.
The result is a tactile and structured garment, in which wool and knitting technique become the true decorative elements.
A Made in Ireland Cropped Aran
The Cropped Aran is made in Ireland, the country where this knitwear tradition originates.
The Honeycomb knitting, the large cables, and the Aran wool construction reinterpret the classic language of the Aran sweater through a shorter and more contemporary silhouette.
